Every time I read a book by Lynn Kurland, I'm reminded of why she's an author on my auto-buy list. Most of her stories fall in the 'time travel' genre and I just can't get enough of her MacLeod/de Piaget stories. She makes these stories seem plausible and probable...and that's no mean feat.
Sunny is a great heroine. She's the MacLeod's witch and her herbal remedies are well-received by her family and neighbors, especially since many of those neighbors come from a time when the only medicine avail

Once I pick up a time travel, the bug hits me all over again and I want another as quickly as I can put my hands on one. Time travels are my favorite paranormals to read, and one of the best at them is Lynn Kurland. I’ve not read all of her books yet. I save them and savor them. I don’t want to run out of her books and have to wait a year or more for the next to be released. So, suffice it to say, I had a wonderful time reading this latest in her MacLeod series.

I dont even know where to begin. Im actually shocked this book has as high a rating as it has. The base of the story is good and that was why I picked it up. Here are the following reasons why this book sucked:
1. Sunshine wept through 3/4 of the book.
2. She was a 33 year old virgin, which is offensive in of itself. On top of that we dont even get the benefit of an awesome sex scene of losing said virginity
3. She started out with a little spunk then took a fast downward spiral
4. She swore fealty

When you have a whole series of books that are based on a bunch of people from two families time traveling back and forth to the middle ages, you may start to get a little repetitive in the plots. Someone goes to the past, meets someone, debates where to live (past or future)...It could get repetitive. But not with Lynn Kurland! With the book, With Every Breath, she takes that formula and shakes it up but good! And this is one of my very favorite Lynn Kurland books! :)

This book out of the entire series had the most interesting premise -unfortunately, it also had the worst main character in the way of Sunshine Phillips. If I had had to read about her weeping, sobbing, bawling, crying, or tearing up one more time I would have tossed the book. Of course, the male protagonist, Robert Cameron, turned into what appeared to be a whining pussycat and that didn't help.
I'm glad I didn't give up though because it did have the most delicious plot twist that I didn't see

Cameron and Sunshine fall in love in 1375. They are escaping to the future when they are separated. Cameron to 1997 and Sunny to 2005. He does not remember her as he was stuck with knife and hit in head with rock. They slowly find their way back to each other. Read and see all the intrigue.

I honestly cannot understand how this book got such high ratings.
It was simply horrible writing, with a storyline that had so much potential but was butchered into nothing but a string of terribly boring and repetitive scenes of our female lead whining, crying and moping about for almost half the book.
The book starts off interesting, in the first few chapters when our heroine Sunshine (Sunny) goes back through time and meets the hero, and they insta!love.
The interesting part quickly died down th

I love every book that Lynn Kurland comes out with, and this is no exception .... with a small reservation that led me to really debate whether to give it three stars as opposed to four or a five. (Four, in the end, was a compromise.)
The story has Kurland's wonderful mix of time travel and characters, both new and familiar from past books, and the romance had me sighing happily.
Sunshine Phillips, who showed up toward the end of Kurland's 'A Garden in the Rain', gets her own story here as she is

I love time travel, I love the highlands, and I love highland warrior heroes...so this book had an advantage from the beginning. Lynn Kurland has a way of making her readers fall in love with her heroes. I liked Cam so much I even had dreams about him. ;o) I liked the heroine Sunshine quite a bit, but her habits of falling into a puddle of tears every other scene got on my nerves by the end of the book. I was wondering what Cam saw in her and wished I could magically pull him out of the book to...more

I hadn't read one of Lynn's books for a long time, then when I realized this was on the library's shelf, I couldn't resist. What can I say? Her books make me happy! I grin while reading and I love the clean romance - as well as the magic of Scottland and the whole time travel element.
Sunshine Phillips (Madelyn's sister from Garden in the Rain) is now the official MacLeoud witch, taking care of the family with her herbal remedies and living in Moraig's hut. One night a highlander knocks on her do

I swear I read this for Book Club. And it's a good thing because I have a habit of not finishing books I'm not interested in. OK, I was interested in it, but not enough to want to read more. Don't get me wrong, Scotland, a Seattle connection, a woman my age... it's all fun. But if I am going to read romance, I expect a sex scene. Nuff said.

I have a particular passion for time travel romances set in the UK. There are not many authors who write in this topic that I like and I have read ALL Lynn Kurland's books more than once. They are perfect light reads for vacations, summer days, whenever you want to escape.

Pure joy!
I love the simple and discreet way romance is written by Ms. Kurland. Nothing vulgar. I just love her style. She brings back and develops previous characters and ties them together beautifully.

If the whole book matched the first 2 chapters, this would have been 5 stars. The story was great but there was too much crying from both our heroine and hero along with a lot of repetitive self reflection and
running away. I enjoyed the book and would still recommend it.

Genre: Medieval Romance
So, this book fits into the category of 'so bad it's fun'; it's a time-traveling romance between a modern woman and a 14th century Scottish lord. If I were playing a drinking game over the historical inaccuracies I'd've been completely sloshed by chapter 3, and medieval Scotland isn't one of my special interests! Both the characters and the situation were rather unbelievable. However, by pretending it was a fantasy novel (for both the modern and 1370s setting) it was fun a

Okay. So, I feel like all I've been reading lately has been romance novels. That just means I'll have to reread something or read something new soon. On with the review, so aside from deja-vu about the fact that it's a romance novel with a main character named Sunshine who falls in love with someone from deep in the past and far past the border of England, this was an interesting tale. I about died half-way through when I got to a major part halfway through the night. I was ready to call my frie...more

I always enjoy Lynn Kurland's books...I won't write a review on all of them, as my opinions of the books never ever change! The books are always clean (although I feel like I should clarify that a bit, the earlier ones do have a bit more description in them, but reading on her website, she says that it was because her publisher was pushing for that, but now she has much more freedom to write as she likes, so they are very clean, compared to the first few novels that she wrote, and those weren't...more

Strike Two.
I am not a crier. There are exceptions- Disney films, movies/books where animals or favorite characters die, or that damned Kraft peanut butter commercial.
Maybe, I just don’t know how to relate to a heroine who weeps incessantly. In fact, I was much closer to the other end of the spectrum and started hating the “W” word and her. She wept so much even the hero noticed! While he was away he even wondered if she was weeping!
He was no better though. He was constantly puking. Head i

This is an amazing, sweet, exhilarating time-travel romance with some major, heart-strings pulling pain within it's exciting pages. 'With Every Breath' grabbed me and took my breath away as I read about it's characters and their bumpy ride through time. This story is a beautiful romance about two people falling in love and then becoming separated by fate and time. The characters are likable and believable. Sunshine is loving life in Scotland--until she opens her door to a stranger one day and ends up in the 1300s. Cam is laird and is seeking the help of the MacLeod witch to help save his brother and ends up getting Sunshine instead. This time portal is trickier than the others--Sunshine suddenly ends up back home--without Cam--but meets up with him. The problem is, he's been in the future for 8 years and has a fiancée.

Lynn began her writing career at the tender age of five with a series of illustrated novellas entitled Clinton’s Troubles in which the compelling hero found himself in all sorts of . . . well, trouble. She was living in Hawaii at the time and the scope for her imagination (poisoned fish, tropical cliffs, large spiders) was great and poor Clinton bore the brunt of it. After returning to the mainlan...more
