I'm a huge fan of Thomas Adès and have looked at a lot of his scores (they're free to view on the Faber website.)
Pieces like Asyla, Traced Overhead or Totentanz have so many layers to them. It's insane. There are irrational time signatures and all these bizarre dotted triplets figures that make no sense to me. Even if I never gain huge proficiency, I'd still like to be able to look at the scores and slowly work things out. But I have no clue where to begin.

I do understand a little on basic polyrhythms and tuplets, but how can I take things to the next level? Most of the rhythm books I've found are more focused towards drummers rather than classical composers.
