I've seen some conflicting information on this so wanted to ask the group if anyone uses it and if so, what problems they may have had. I am looking to get a used one on the cheap for simple calibration but have read via Google that it does not support 64 bit but then again per Datacolor's website there is some software that says it supports 64 bit but does not mention Windows 7. Just looking for some actual users of the software and advice. Thanks a ton!!

I'm using a Spyder2 Pro with Win7 Pro x64.
The s/w version I have installed is 2.3.5 according to the file name.

Did you download that software from the data color website? That is the one I saw that mentioned 64 bit but made no reference to windows 7. So you've not had any problems with spyder2pro then? No calibration or driver issues? It creates and saves the right profiles and uses them consistently? Do you have a glossy or non glossy screen?

If it's the software on their site, if it's for Windows, and it specifies 64-bit, then it makes sense that it's for Win7x64...Vista has been 'old in the tooth' since Win7x64 came out!
The only problem I'd forsee is if you have a wide-gamut monitor -- I believe the older calibration setups aren't made for those monitors, but I could be mistaken there.

Tonylong- how do I know if I have a wide gamut monitor? I read about that but have no idea. My monitors are a few years old circa 2007-2008.

Well, I'm not one of the 'experts' here when it comes to display technology (or anything else, for that matter), I know there is at least one site that lists monitors and their display types, but I don't recall what the site is -- maybe someone 'in the know' can chime in...
In the meantime, I did a quick search for 'wide gamut monitor' and there are plenty of 'hits':

One site has a pretty good article discussing things:

Must have, since the CDs that I have are all v1.x software and pre-date any x64 operating system (except possibly XP x64, but that wasn't very popular).

I've not had any problems with profiles being saved or applied except when using a KVM switch. I think the switch has a generic monitor id that it passes to any port that isn't active at the moment.
The monitor I have is an older Dell model (2001 or 2007 iirc), the screen is definitely more matte/textured than glossy.

I had a lot of problem with spyder 2 and Windows 7 64. The solution was to delete these files http://dispcalgui.hoech.net/#issue-win-intel-cal-reset

I have the Spyder2 express and when I upgraded to a new windows 7 pc just over a month ago I was reading that it wouldn't work. I contacted Data color but they never responded. I downloded the 64bit version of the software for vista and it works fine on my pc.

It's not what you do, it's how you present it!
