How to shoot fireworks in minecraft

Greetings /r/photography,

I'm in London for New Year's Eve and plan to be outside while the fireworks go off. Naturally, I would love to capture some beautiful shots around the Big Ben and The London Eye.

Nikon D3200 Compatible Lenses

My question is, how to approach the situation without a tripod? Do you recommend going full manual? Unfortunately, I have no opportunity of preparing myself and getting the settings right beforehand. I won't be around any fireworks until then, and I've never shot fireworks before.

My gear: Nikon D3200, kit lens and the 35mm 1.8.

Thank you in advance,
Cheers
